August 28, 2008 - Z-21B

This emphasises the aileron area.

Here's the AeroVee installation. Note the welding rod indicating the deep bullet curve that will give Bernard's aeroplane an authentic 1920s bull-nose.

This shows well the 24" width and the deeper-decked fuselage.

September 3, 2008 - Z-21B Cowl Forming

Group,

Here are pictures of von Schmirk's cowl-forming buck. Bernard will shape the aluminium sections using an English wheel and suitable mallets.

I look forward to the results with eager anticipation.

Cheers,

Lynn

September 8, 2008 - Z-21B Cowl

Group,

Here's the first section of English-Wheel/hand-formed bullet cowl made by Chips von Schmirk for his lovely Z-21B Habicht.

September 26, 2008 - Von Schmirk's Habicht cowl

Group,

This is a dramatic photograph of Von Schmirk's engine cowling which he's been English wheeling. A fine piece of work I'm sure everyone would agree and the result is a handsome and rather aggressive looking front end, with just the suggestion of a sneer on the cooling mouth, nichts wahr, Fabian von Schneer? I wonder how the other Z-1B is progressing!

November 5, 2008 - Gerti gets cowled

As its so quiet, here is today's progress on gerti. Port side cowling now almost complete. An access for the dipstick is still to be done, then the oil level indicator will be fitted!

November 14, 2008 - Finished Cowling

Here's a series of new pictures from Chips von Schmirk. Apart from a few jobs like fitting the pitot and making the upper cowl cooling slits, G-ERTI is complete. Engine runs are eagerly awaited. The present (test) propeller is about 6" undersize by the way.

She's looking grand, Chips.
