Cleveland 200

April 10, 2004

Hi Guys,

Everybody seems to prefer old #77 compared to #79.

Personally I like them both, but #79 seemed to represent a 'more American' look, closer to the style of Mike and Miss Los Angeles - an out-and-out racing aeroplane. Somehow #77 seems more 'watered down', and there is a more 'British' look about it.

Gary, the Miles & Attwood Special has a very similar specification to that of the Cleveland, but retro-fiited with a radial........I think perhaps something like the Weddel Williams series would work better, for sleek looks with manageable proportions.

Either way, the wire-braced monoplane wing has several attractions, and the steel tube fuselage is a sensible choice. Vic, the wings are attached to very short underslung carry-thro's on the wooden fuselage of the last version (#79) and this is a very simple structural feature, incorporating the undercarriage fittings, of course.

I will have to consider the last iteration of the Cleveland again, by popular choice!

Best wishes,

Lynn
