Hi Group,

Here's some pictures, the first of which shows G-BVAW with the electronic ignition installed, performing engine runs with just one set of plugs operating at that time.

Another picture shows the Great Baldamus at work beneath the fuselage.

The aeroplane is now cleaned and re-painted in some areas, with only the primer due for re-installation, for continued engine running and inspection for flight status.

Hi all,

What a great day Lynn and I have had working on the Z1 again. Most of the afternoon was spent doing small jobs which seem never ending. We've been doing them for 3 years :-D

I polished most of the airframe after cleaning it down on my last visit, it sure looked stunning! The cowling's were refitted again, done that a few times in anticipation and polished. We then decided to do some engine runs and measure engine temps with my laser gun (bet you haven't got 1 of them Vs). It was the first time I'd heard AV run since rebuilding the engine last year, it started on the first pull! It sounded really great and it was good to stand in the prop blast in the warm afternoon sun.

All looked good, so Lynn taxied AV for the first time in 5 years or so, I felt so pleased for Lynn, a good feeling. He taxied it around the farm strip carefully avoiding some big ruts, it looks even more fantastic moving, wonderful. Next it was my turn to have a go, I jumped in and taxied AV back to the hanger, I had to make one 90deg left turn but it was pretty easy really. I need practice but it felt great actually moving AV under its own power, I didn't get blasted much as the seat is nice and low. I can't really convey how pleased it makes me feel to help Lynn with what at times has been a big mill stone around his neck, he now has the superb aeroplane he designed, can't wait for the next go now :-)
