John Theron's Z-3 Falke

August 6, 2005

Here are a couple of photos of Chris Bobka and myself marking out some wing rib jigs last night. We did all that is needed for the lower wings and ended up with 4 jigs effectively (on 2 boards). There are main rib, tip rib, left and right root ribs to do, we were going to reverse them but I want to screw the jigs to a thick lump of kitchen work top to keep them flat even though we used 18mm ply. Will have to do it all again for the top wings (biplanes!) but its no hassle and scrap jig material is always easy to find though I have enough as there are no root ribs to make. We didn't get to fit the securing blocks as I don't have the capping yet though I have a strip that Chips kindly donated, hopefully the wood will be here mid August if Chris gets it to me OK! After 3 years of waiting and working on the Z1 with Lynn, sorry Ernst Kessler, its good to do something other than collect bits or make benches etc!

My thanks to Chris for facilitating so much and his utter dedication to helping me (he was only on a 24 hour stop over!) in many ways. Go start all you who haven't taken the plunge like me!
