Hi Group,

Yet another Flitzer Z-21 is making rapid progress, in Norfolk, England.

This is the Z-21 of Trevor Crossman who only very recently received a timber kit from Gary. He was very impressed with the quality of the timber and stated that he would have to pay great attention to the quality of his own work to do justice to the materials!

That he has so obviously done just that is evident from these two photographs, the first we have seen of this new Z-21. I think we will be seeing even more to admire in the months to come.

Congratulations, Trevor, on superb workmanship.

Best regards,

Lynn

Hello Lynn,

The fuselage is now complete except for fitting the lower skin, I have today bought some tubing for the rudder cable guides, so they will be fitted and after an inspection the bottom will be closed up. All of the fuselage fittings are made and are being electro-zinc plated, the cabane parts are ready for welding but my jig needs a couple more details, I now need to plan wheels, and as a result of trying to build a wheel from junk scrounged off of the town dump in my boyhood, more years ago than I wish to remember, this is one job that is definitely going to be contracted out. Annular bananas were no good on bikes , even worse on aeroplanes! I think that I've seen something somewhere about brakes for these machines, so to save me trying to re-invent the wheel, have you any info. The only way that I can envisage something unobtrusive would be a multi-plate device within the hub.

Regards,
Trevor

Group,

Here's Trevor Crossman's Z-21 rolled out. Note the Type I fin and rudder.

He's done this in under a year.

Group,

Here's a series of pictures of a Jabiru installed on the front of a Z-21.

This is Trevor Crossman's aeroplane in Norfolk, which was temporarily shelved due to ill health, but which is now back on track I am very glad to say. Trevor is an active, wiry guy and doesn't weigh much so the Jab is on a standard-length VW-type mount which will give the aeroplane the same short bullet nose of the prototype Z-1 and still remain in balance.

Altogether on 80 hp. it should have an excellent performance at the low predicted AUW.
